Skor Chocolate Cake Recipe {easiest ever!} – Tip Junkie (2024)

The best chocolate cake recipe you’ll ever make uses a Skor candy bar! Some people call it a Skor chocolate cake, other people call it a Better Than Anything Cake {giggle} because it’s that good! If you are looking for easy cake recipes that the whole family will devour, make this cake! You can always use a heath bar if you can’t find a Skor bar. Some people also refer to this cake as a heath bar cake, by the way! Basically, this cake is a chocolate poke cake that is covered in caramel, sweetened condensed milk, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and then a crushed Skor or Heath bar. It’s so delicious it’s almost sinful!

Easy Cake Recipes

This is an easy cake recipe to make. Like, super easy. It’s pretty much a dump, or poke cake recipe that comes from a box. So, you stir in the 3 ingredients for the box chocolate cake mix, and then dump everything else on top of it. At the end you’ll have a decadent cake that looks (and tastes) like you spent hoursin the kitchen slaving over it. {wink}

What Cake Mix to Use?

If I remember right, the key is to get a “butter chocolate cake” so that it will absorb the condensed milk and caramel. However, I haven’t been able to find one. So, I’m wondering… what’s the trick to get the cake to evenly absorb so it’s super gooey and yummy? If anyone knows… PLEASE leave a comment so I can edit this post and give y’all the info.

Chocolate Cake Recipe

Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make this easy chocolate cake.

Chocolate Cake:
1 jar caramel topping {or make your own caramel sauce}
1 can sweet and condensed milk
1 chocolate butter flavored cake

Cake Topping:
1 {8 oz} Cool Whip {here are some great recipes using Cool Whip}
3 Skor bars {or Heath bars}
Hershey’s syrup {optional}

How to Make the Cake

Making the cake is easier than you’d think! You’ll find step-by-step directions with pictured instructions below as well asthe condensed version in case you like to read what to expect right up front!

Cook cake as directed on the package. Once the cake has been removed from the oven (and before it has had a chance to cool), poke the cake with a toothpick to make lots of holes for the sweetened condensed milk and caramel topping to seep into the chocolate cake. You can even use a straw if you want lots and lots of flavor in your cake! While the cake is still hot, pour over the sweetened condensed milk, then the caramel. You don’t have to worry about it looking “neat”. Just make sure the cake is covered! Let the cake cool, and then refrigerate. Next, frost the cake with Cool Whip. Then, crush Skor bars {or Heath bars} and sprinkle on top. Decorate with Hershey’s syrup.

You know Tip Junkie loves to promote creative women and I always observe copyright rules. I wish I could remember who gave me this easy cake recipe! Maybe someone will leave me a comment so I can give credit where credit is due. They deserve it! I printed this recipe in my Turk Favorite Recipes Book, Volume II way back in 2001.

1. Bake Chocolate Cake

Mix and bakechocolate cake as directed. Once the cake is baked, remove from the oven and poke it with a toothpick while it’s still hot! This will make lots of holes for the SweetenedCondensed Milk and caramel topping to seep into the chocolate cake.

Once you have a bunch of holes punched into the cake ~ it’s time to start pouring the Sweetened Condensed Milk. TIP: You can use a straw to poke your holes for added flavor in your cake!

2. Chocolate Cake made with Evaporated Milk

Evenly and slowly pour the Sweetened and Condensed Milk on top of the chocolate cake. Don’t worry if it doesn’t pour perfectly!

You can spread it out using a spatula!

Tip: Use the spatula to grab the overflow on the edges and push it back onto the top of the cake.

3. Chocolate Cake with Caramel Sauce

Repeat the steps for the caramel sauce. Take a toothpick and poke a bunch of holes so the caramel sauce can seep through.

Tip: Use the spatula to grab the overflow on the edges and push it back onto the top of the cake.

4. Refrigerate Cake

After the cake has a chance to cool, refrigerate it. I’ve found that that cake tastes best refrigerated over night!

5. Smash Skor Candy Bar

While the cake is cooling off in the refrigerator, go ahead and chop the Skor candy bar or Heath bar. To make it easier, my Man put the Skor candy bars into a ziplock bag and used his meat tenderizer tool to pound the Heath candy bars into bits. Any appropriate kitchen tool will do, though!

This is what it will look like when you’re finished smashing the Skor candy bar or Heath bar into bits.

6. Frost with Cool Whip

Use a spoon to add the Cool Whip on top of the caramel sauce.

As a fun option, and to make the Chocolate Cake even more decadent, decorate with Hershey’s syrup on top.

Heath Bar Cake

This is what the Skor Chocolate Cake recipe will look like when it’s done. It matches my crazy granite! {snicker} I don’t think I’ll ever look at my ugly granite the same. I just might like it better now.

Better Than Anything Cake

I guarantee that if you make this chocolate cake recipe it won’t stick around! It’s simply the best chocolate cake recipe you’ll ever make, and it’s easy!!!

This is my husbands favorite cake. He calls it “better than S3X cake”. {I don’t want to spell that out in fear of the ads that might display. HA!} Anyway, I haven’t made it since we moved from Ft. Worth many years ago. I stopped making it for a couple reasons… mainly because I don’t cook anymore. {shhhh… that’s our secret} Also because I couldn’t find the butter chocolate cake mix. So hopefully one of you will know what cake mix I should be using instead. {crossing fingers} Leave a comment below or on Facebook to help us out, K!
